Green Below Fontenelle May 30, 2015

Date / Time: Saturday, May 30, 2015 Location: Green Below Fontenelle. Float from just below slate creek to hay farm. The Characters: KK, BK in one boat Jason Curry and Rebekah in other. Weather: Sunny, some clouds. 70s, perfect weather. Water Temp: Guessing around 50 Water Level: 1800 cfs Water Clarity/Quality: Crystal Moon Phase: 3 days before full Hatches: BWOs, midges, some flying ants Best Flies: Chubby Chernobyl, Bead Peacock Stone Fishing: Drove up early am and met BK who drove up too, Jason and Rebekah who had camped there several days. Got there around 8 and we got on the water by 9 or so. Started off just below the drop below camp and wade fished the small river right channel and midriver drop. Got several eats on the Chubby and stuck several good fish right off. Found a couple risers in the channel and below the confluence of it and they ate chubby too. Fished on the drift and initially had several good eats by BK. Then a lull on the drift. Got out above long channel above dodge and stuck a few on the dropper. Found a couple sporadic risers in the top of the channel and I think switched over to flying ant but don’t remember but got a couple there including a pig ripper bow. So far all good fish, bows and a couple cutts. Fished the tiny sidechannel off the main sidechannel and there were sippers. We worked them and think they ate the flying ant, but don’t remember. Skinny water and spooky but we got a couple. Below there, don’t remember for a while but know we stopped and stuck some good fish on the drop and got more chubby eats. Jason was way ahead and Rebekah pulled out at dodge and took the boat back to camp and Jason jumped in with us. We continued to fish the chubby on the drift and got several more good fish. I threw the streamer for a bit and got one pig bow, and possibly a couple other eats or fish don’t remember. Fished out with Chubby mainly I think, but not sure. Killer day.
