Fishing: Arrived in the am for camping trip for dad’s birthday. Met up with BK and set up trailers. Couldn’t decide where to float so ended up going islands to dodge which was bad call since were looking for Kokanee. Found no Kokanee and decided against floating the side channel since it required a lot of time and specific techniques which would have been tough with dad and the three of us. Ultimately got off that float after throwing streamers for nada and went down to Gold’s Bar where I knew there would be Kokanee based on fishing I had week previous. We got there and played a bunch on the egg behind the playboy, but none would eat the playboy except Kokanee. Dad got a pig right when we got there which was awesome!
Fishing: Day 2: Floated from Hay Farm to Farson since Kokanee are always loaded up there with multiple spots and that was our aim. Several boats on the water when we launched around 9, par for course these days. The Trout Hunting dude was there, another guide that works for Gordon fishing on own and a two rivers guide boat. The other two boats were couples that were fishing dries and not really knowing what’s up. We pushed way ahead, but ultimately the two couple boats caught up. The others we mostly didn’t see. We found Kokanee redds in pretty short order and proceeded to slay them. Fished multiple beds with the playboy egg combo on heavy tippet, sink tips and floating. No fish ate the playboy despite earlier week getting several good ones on the playboy. Caught some leviathans, best spots were the slower deep spots below the redds. Caught a ton of Kokanee too, no browns. Threw streamers on the drift here and there but the moss was ruthless so abandoned it. Saw some pig browns on redds in side channels in a couple of spots.
