Water Temp: Close to 39 degrees at dam according to USGS Water Level: Revised flows to single peak during night time, midnight through 5pm 1800 cfs consistent which is what we saw Water Clarity/Quality: Crystal Moon Phase: One days after last quarter Hatches: Midges & BWOs Best Flies: Black woolhead, olive sculpin, various BWO Z Lon Wing Sparkle Dun Fishing: Drove from Green River, WY previous night with Tammy with Jason following. We stayed at RCL and Jason solo at FGL. We had breakfast and picked up dad’s boat from storage and decided to do B since Shelly could shuttle. Put in around 11. Breezy, but nice. Started out with Jason fishing throwing black since it had been good few weeks previous. He had a few takes, but the fish weren’t on it that great. We switched around but nothing on too well. In retrospect, thinking the water temperature drop had big influence. I had a decent number of eats when I got up on the olive articulated but couldn’t connect, got first fish at top of grasshopper on the goldilox deep. Kept switching around after that, but nothing really on. We had fish here and there grabbing, landing only a handful with overall only fair fishing. Good BWO started as we got through Red Creek and we stopped river left above stairway to heaven and picked a few off despite heavy wind through there. Those fish were snaky and didn’t fight great, they were in the off color side even though it was barely running. Threw streamer on the drift again until tree tops again, not great. Fish were up good in tree tops and I hopped out and stuck a few in the eddy which put the others down. Prior to that, quite a few up in there. Fish were still up good above the eddy in the riffly drop and I stuck several there on the sparkle dun. Couple good quality, 18s. Mainly back on the streamer on the drift and Jason had a couple decent sessions, but still not landing a ton. I think I only got one more and ultimately think I only landed a couple all day on the streamer. It was much slower than 2 weeks previous which was much slower than 2 weeks previous to that. This was my 5th trip out there for the season floating B and each trip was progressively slower than the first. Again, the water temp probably had a big impact. Fun day overall, best fishing was on dries by far and probably should have done more of that and should have done the dry dropper or shallow nymph thing. Also not nearly as many midges as few weeks previous.
