Green River Below Flaming Gorge B/C Section 10-10-2015

Date / Time: Saturday, October 10, 2015 Location: Green River Utah B/C section float all the way to pipeline The Characters: KK, Brenton Kuhn, Bob Karsch Weather: Cool in am, but warm for time of year. Mostly sunny, warm, up to 80s Water Temp: 58 degrees at dam according to USGS Water Level: 2400 for the most part while we were on Water Clarity/Quality: Crystal Moon Phase: Couple days before new moon Hatches: Pseudo BWOs Best Flies: articulated goldilox, articulated olive sculpin Fishing: Floated with Brenton and Bob Karsch after guiding day before. Floated too long, should have taken out at cowboy but went to pipeline. Initially pretty good, hooked two between 2nd and 3rd ramps. Action continued to be decent for Brenton and I mostly on the articulated goldie. After we caught several, mixed it up and caught them on some other stuff but seemed the goldie was best color. Bob struggled in the back for a while. Below red creek action tapered, but we had spots of good fishing. Had a stretch below wagon crossing where they were on the olive articulated sculpin pretty good and then hit and miss again. As we got lower into c section action fell off dramatically. Bob got one above cowboy and then we didn’t land another fish until just above the takeout where Bob got a good fish on the articulated silveys olive sculpin leech. In retrospect, we were fishing a super fast sinking line since water was higher and we were stripping fast above red creek but then the lower we got the more that hung up and I think we would have hooked a few by lightening up the rig.
