Date / Time: February 17, 2013 Location: Green below Fontenelle, wading. Upper Dodge, Slate Creek and Riff Raff. The Characters: Kory & Jason Curry. Weather: Mostly sunny high 30s eventually. Teens when we arrived. Calm in morning then breezy. Water Temp: High 30s guess Water Level: Low around 833 cfs Water Clarity/Quality: Clear. Moon Phase: First quarter. Fishing: Drove up for the day with Jason in the new Ford, first road trip with it. Got there around 10:30, pretty chilly but calm and sunny. Started at side channel river right upper dodge. Spotted fish there so Jason fished while I rigged. He hooked a few cutties and some whities on eggs and midges. Fish and game guy checked us and I wasted a bunch of time bsing with him. Spotted some other pigs from the high bank above the deep hole but spooked them. After that checked out gold’s bar, but I pussed out because of snow and fear of getting stuck. Went up and fished across from slate below where the channel comes in. Hooked a shitload of whities on the bead egg and one smaller bow. Jason got same results. Headed down to Riff Raff as wind started to pick up. Fished through the channel fairly quick and didn’t touch a fish, was weird. Fished main channel hole on other side, nothing. Figured I was too shallow so deepened. Went back and walked the high bank to see if they were actually there and sure enough spooked several so instead of bailing we went back and re-rigged. Eventually started hooking a few and ended up hooking 8-10 between us on bead eggs. Reasonable fights once they realized, but they were cold and you could tell they hadn’t moved much. Bailed out after that, good to get up there. riff-bow-kk-1 riff-bow-kk-2 riff-bow-jc-1
