Green River Below Fontenelle 3-2-2013
Date / Time: March 2, 2013 Location: Green below Fontenelle. Float from Dodge To Hay Farm. The Characters: Kory & Brian. Weather: Mostly sunny low 40s. Calm and nice all day, some high clouds. Water Temp: High 30s guess Water Level: Low around 833 cfs Water Clarity/Quality: Clear. Moon Phase: Last quarter. Fishing: Drove up and met Brian around 10:30. Dropped my truck at Hay Farm and put in at Dodge. Threw streamers pretty hard for a while and didn’t hit anything. Threw bead eggs in some drops on upper left dodge channels, nada. Got first fish hooked lower dodge right spawning bed, big fish, sluggish came off after rolling on surface down river. Got one on playboy bugger below left in slow water, decent bow. Kept throwing streamer for nothing. Pushed down to Riff Raff since we figured there would be fish there no matter what plus had got them there with Jason a few weeks previous. Sure enough they were there. I got a couple of nice bows on the bigger bead milty egg. BK struggled but finally hooked one. I got on bank and spotted and there were some big ones in there, but we only got those few. Tracks in snow looked somewhat fresh so we may have been getting seconds. Pushed down to Gold’s Bar and immediately started hooking fish in the boulder pools on the right. Got some good fish including one about 23 inches, some were pretty hot, some less and darker. Good fishing, no fish really on beds that we could see yet but they were in this deep water. Not as good as it can be, but pretty good considering. Probably hooked 15-20 between us there and then it died out. It was later in the day around 4ish. Pushed out, and actually managed one on the move on the bugger hot but smaller bow. We had to take out over an iceberg which was interesting but pulled it off. Good day.
