Green River Flaming Gorge 4-13-2013

Date / Time: Afternoon float around noon 4-13-2013 Location: Section B The Characters: Kory, BK and Dad. Weather: Partly sunny, windy high 40s to low 50s. Water Temp: low 40s guess Water Level: Low around 840 Water Clarity/Quality: clear. Moon Phase: Just after new moon. Fishing: Drove up this morning to stay a week and work from Brian’s house. Dad met me and Brian had day off. We floated B and started out suspended nymphing waiting for the hatch to start. It was pretty good on the large brown bead, but not as good as a little higher water. Fish were mainly on it in fast drops. Eventually hatch got going, but the wind was super gusty and downstream. We stopped on river right grasshopper channel and found some risers, but wind made them erratic. Eventually found risers in the areas where the tops of the small back eddies backed up against the current piling the bugs up. Trails end eddy was the first spot where we really got into them. From there down, we spot casted risers and got into a decent number. Threw the streamer off and on, but they weren’t on it. Below Red Creek tail end of the hatch kept on going and fish were up good. We picked spots and fished the dry and threw the streamer off and on but only got some good fish on dry but they were somewhat tough in isolated spots. Got one good one on the streamer as we pushed out as the weather rolled in.
