Green River Flaming Gorge 4-15-2013
Date / Time: 4/15/2013 2-7 pm. Location: Wading below little hole down to Minnesota flat. The Characters: Kory and Matt Lucas. Weather: Snow showers, cloudy, socked in and calm temps in high 40s. Water Temp: low 40s guess Water Level: Low around 840 Water Clarity/Quality: clear. Moon Phase: Just after new moon. Fishing: Worked the morning and headed down around 2 with Matt Lucas. Hatch was going strong and fish up like crazy. Fished a few casts off the ramp but then bailed and headed down. Hit the sidechannel on river left and stuck a few at bottom, then went to top where it spills off and they were going ballistic. Got a bunch of good fish there, some ripping hot battlers. They ate the size 18 cripple pretty well, worked up through. Crossed and went down and headed to Minnesota, hit the tailout of T3 but fish were spooky and I put them all down. Eventually ended up in middle of Minnesota where it starts to slow down below the fast water but above the slow and found some killer fish up. Worked those for a while, but the size 18 cripple wasn’t getting them so switched to 20 parachute and they ate that good. Got some good fish there and headed back up. Didn’t get much on the way back up and hatch was largely over. Incredible day with perfect conditions.
