Green River Flaming Gorge 4-16-2013

Date / Time: 4/16/2013 2-6 pm. Location: Wading below little hole down to Cottonwood. The Characters: Kory and Matt Lucas. Weather: Sporadic snow and very gusty wind, pretty windy and cold with temps high 20s to low 30s. Front seemed to past as we started fishing. Water Temp: low 40s guess Water Level: Low around 840 Water Clarity/Quality: clear. Moon Phase: Just after new moon. Fishing: Worked the morning and headed down around 2 with Matt Lucas. We B lined it straight over the mountain and saw a bunch of risers in the small eddies on the way down. We skipped all that and went all the way to just above cottonwood and started fishing and the wind seemed to blow through simultaneously. It felt like the front passed and the temps dropped about 10-15 degrees. Wind kicked in pretty fierce with occasional breaks in the gusts. I had Skeena and crossed and fished up. It was super spotty so I put on shallow nymph. Didn’t hit shit on that either, just wasn’t on for the day. Ice guides were heavy as the temps were in the mid 20s and it was cold. Kept working up and eventually found some decent fish up in Minnesota, but I kept putting them down. Matt got into a few on the other side. I ultimately crossed, but we decided to bail as it was cold and not a lot happening. On the way back virtually no fish up anywhere. Front passing shut things down pretty good.
