Date / Time: 5-2 9am-7pm Location: C section float IC to swallow. The Characters: Kory and Dave Wetzel. Weather: Calm and mostly sunny with high clouds. Pleasant with highs in upper 50s. Water Temp: low 40s guess Water Level: Low around 820 Water Clarity/Quality: clear. Moon Phase: Last quarter. Fishing: After Fontenelle the day before slayfest with BK and Dave, drove to Dutch John. BK had to work so Dave and I fished. Forecast was calm, so we headed to C especially since it was a Saturday. Ended up behind Hank and Dougie and possibly others, a few rafts also around. Started with nymph that was already rigged from previous day and hit a pig bow right off the ramp on the worm. Rigged dry dropper and fished it for about 40 minutes for nothing, decided to just nymph all the drops and got another nice rainbow. Hopscotched down river and kept stopping in all riffly drops and good looking spots and fishing off anchor. Got a bunch of really nice super hot fish, browns and rainbows and some whities. Most fish were in the riffly, faster water with structure. Hit some in the slower stuff. Threw streamers off and on, but they weren’t really into it. Got a few on it, but had to work hard. Eventually as we got lower in the river, it slowed way down. Weather had started to turn which might have played a role also later in the day and maybe Hank and Dougie hammered all the good spots. At any rate, fun day. Should have taken out at Pipeline since most of the fishing was above there and it was super windy in swallow.
