Green River Fontenelle 7-6-2013
Date / Time: 7-6-2013 Location: Float from Dam to Slate Creek The Characters: Kory and BK. Weather: Calm and mostly sunny. Breezy off and on afternoon, but not consistent. Hot weather upper 80s or so. Water Temp: Low 60s guess Water Level: Low around 820 Water Clarity/Quality: clear. Moon Phase: 4 days before new moon. Bugs: Tricos, PMDs, Caddis, Few Sallies. Fishing: Day two of float with BK from dam to Slate. Again, risers were going off on big flat above cable. Huge trico spinner fall. We worked on those fish for a while and got several on PMD cripples I tied in camp that morning hackle stacker style, PA and similar patterns. Fish were up in tailout big time too so moved down there under cable. Switched to rusty spinner quill body and fish were all over it. Got several of those fish too and worked down right channel above weeping rock CG. Moved around the corner and spent some time on the fish on the right side down the edge below Weeping Rock, some pigs up super selective but we hooked a few good ones lost some landed some mostly bows occasonal cutts and browns. I got in boat and landed a couple off the cliff side then picked BK up and he worked one under the cliff and got it, pig brown. Continued down and fish were up continuously. Switched back to PMD cripple that I had tied in camp that morning. Hooked a giant cutty that battled and battled on bottom left of big flat above chute above car body and ultimately lost it. Worked our way down and ultimately in flat above private land on left some pigs up sporadic. Hooked a giant and battled it but was playing it real hard and eventually lost it, BK made comment about 5x being strong but hook pulling out and I realized I had been doing that for a while and losing a lot. Saw another pig on other side, got that to eat and was more careful and finally landed it big rainbow around low 20s and fat. After that can’t remember if BK left or if we fished more. Another phenomenal day, mostly PMDs
