Green River Fontenelle 8-24 through 8-26-2012

Date / Time: 8-24 evening through mid day 8-26-2012 Location: Green below fontenelle. The Characters: Kory and Tammy. Weather: Mostly sunny, high 70s Water Temp: Low 60s Water Level: 1100 Water Clarity/Quality: clear. Moon Phase: Last quarter Fishing: Drove up evening of the 24th, took Jason’s driftboat. Fished the evening and got one big bow and a bunch of smaller to mid sized fish on caddis above weeping rock. Floated the next day solo from dam to campground and then picked Tammy up. Got a bunch of fish on droppers tons of small rainbows and one giant. Most ate the copper bead mayfly pattern I had been fishing. Quite a few pmds but no fish on them and no eats on big dry that I remember. Picked Tammy up and floated to the bridge after biking the shuttle. Pounded all of my usual spots and stuck some fish, but nothing spectacular. Don’t remember details as I am writing this over a month later. Same dropper produced most of the fish. Tons and tons of 12-14 inch bows. Fished the evening around weeping rock again and got a few bigger fish on caddis. Not spectacular but enough fish up. Combo caddis dry that I have been fishing was main fly. Last day wade fished a bunch above weeping rock. Tons of small rainbows again on dropper, don’t think I got any big fish. Then packed up and floated from bridge to head of refuge. Thought water was high enough and it seemed to be good shape, but some moss floating. Fishing sucked and mostly whiteys and a few trout here and there despite pounding some of the standby spots.
