Green River, Utah: March 11, 2010
Date / Time: 3/11/2009 Location: Green River Section A Float The Characters: Kory Kapaloski, Lee Kapaloski, Brian Kapaloski Weather: Mostly sunny, very windy Water Temp: 38-39 Water Level / Tide: Low 900 cfs or so and stable Water Clarity/Quality: Crystal Clear Moon Phase: Last quarter, tail end Fishing: Drove out early a.m. with Dad and met Brian. We got on the water around 11:30 or so. Fished streamers for a few hours and had limited success. Landed a half dozen or so but they weren’t really on it. Water was very cold and had just stopped fluctuating after having two daily peaks for most of the winter prior to this day. You could get them to eat, but was difficult. Danny’s sparkle head sculpin was the fly of choice after spending a bunch of time on the white with only a few fish, brian changed to it and did fairly well. Dad got a few on goldilox prior to that. Tons of midges were coming off so we eventually switched and stuck several fish. Wind was howling most of the day though so made this tough. Air temp was decent just above freezing but the wind chill made it relatively cold. Switched back to the streamer below secret and ended up doing fairly well on the gold through the slow water stretches. Fish wanted it very erratic and with definitive pauses. Got some decent quality fish, but nothing much bigger than 18 inches or so. Some were pretty healthy especially on the lower end. It was a fun day since I hadn’t fished with Dad and Brian in a long time, but the wind was pretty rough. All in all good day.
