Green River, Wyoming Fontenelle: February 12, 2011

Date / Time: 2/13/2011 Location: Fontenelle Dam to Dodge The Characters: Kory Kapaloski, Brian Kapaloski Weather: Mostly sunny and occasional breeze Water Temp: 38-39 (guess) Water Level / Tide: Low 900 cfs or so and stable Water Clarity/Quality: Clear Moon Phase: Just after first quarter Fishing: Tam and I drove up from Flaming Gorge after float previous day on B section and dinner at BK and Becky’s. BK met up with us in Green River and Tam followed us to do shuttle and then went to visit Kathy. After all logistics, we got on the water around 12:30 pretty late. BK got one brown on the drop by the dam and some whities nymphing while we shuttled. After that we threw the white streamer and he got a rainbow on top right above weeping rock in nondescript water. I got up and banged two browns on middle left in nondescript moderate depth water back to back. We were hitting fish fairly consitently for the first mile or so on very slow retrieve. All brown trout except BK’s first. All on white UV bugger. It slowed up in the island area so I put on the black magic. I had one good grab, but that was it for a little while. BK got one off the point opposite the new private land area. After that it was pretty slow for a while. We had one here and there. When we got to the Seedskad ee islands, broke out the nymph rod and hammered the middle channel while BK threw the ball for Skeena. After a solid 15 minutes with nothing, I hooked a pig bow about 21-22 or so on the worm. We nymphed a few more spots on the move for nothing no whities! Went back to the streamer and BK hit a pig on the black magic on his drop. Then I got up and hooked a brown trolling behind the boat and that was the day. Killer day for February in Wyo.
