Green River, Wyoming Fontenelle: April 2, 2011
Date / Time: 4/20/2011 Location: Fontenelle Slate to Hayfarm The Characters: Kory Kapaloski, PJ, Aaron Adams Weather: Mostly sunny and occasional breeze Water Temp: 38-39 (guess) Water Level / Tide: Moderate 1,470 or so (found out when we got back it had come up about 200 cfs night before) Water Clarity/Quality: Cloudy, but not too bad Moon Phase: A few days after full Fishing: Aaron and I drove up in his subaru pulling his boat and his car struggled heavily with check engine light flashing and poor power but it made it. PJ drove separate for shuttle. Killer weather day forecasted so bailed on work this day. Great weather with calm all day and moderate temps. Fishing was very poor. A few whiteys hooked and one trout on streamer very small. Water looked good for streamers, but couldn’t dial it in. Nymphed several spots super hard with dirty stuff for virtually nothing. Ran into Rod in dodge left sidechannel and he said he got a few giant browns on streamers so guess if you hit it right it could have been good. We ultimately ended up in riff raff sidechannel and the fish were all over the beds. We slutted up and ripped several off of there and then headed out. Spooked a shitload all through the lower channel. There were some giants around, but very little elsewhere.
