Hams Fork 5-9-2015

Date / Time: 5-9-2015 Location: Private land. The Characters: Kory and Matt Olson. Weather: Snowing hard with 3-4 inches on the ground, eventually lightened up a bit. Around mid 40s. Water Temp: Low 40s guess Water Level: Think it was around 300, don’t remember and then guy came down and told me it was going up another 100 cfs. Water Clarity/Quality: slight off color, mostly clear until second water bump, then off color then cleared. Moon Phase: 3 Days before 1st quarter. Fishing: Fishing was decent on the larva lace worm. Actually pretty good when I found them before the water came up. There were tons of midges with swallows working hard, but we never found risers even in the big pool below the dam. Got quite a few on the worm before water jump and then we took a break and debated going to fontenelle which we should have but instead stayed. Water had cleared up but was super high so fish were in all soft inside stuff. Fished a lot of spots where I thought I should have gotten fish but didn’t, maybe should have fished deeper. Actually did get quite a few even without doing that though in the slow soft inside spots. Nice bows, but it wasn’t what I had hoped since Jason had been there a week or two earlier when water was low and had good risers. Fun day though.
