Henrys Fork Idaho 6-16-2013

Date / Time: 6-16-2013. Location: Lower Henry’s Fork, Vernon to Chester. The Characters: Kory, Mike. Weather: Sunny and warm. Water Temp: mid 50s guess. Water Level: Lower, don’t remember flow Water Clarity/Quality: clear. Moon Phase: First quarter. Fishing: Girls were sleeping and Mike and I decided to do a quick float. Put on at Vernon, nobody around hadn’t fished this section before. Fished dry dropper with prince dropper, hooked a huge brown and lost it not to far into float. Then, didn’t hit much for a while. Got out and wade fished through some boulders and waited for Green Drakes to come off. Hooked some pigs on droppers in the boulders that absolutely ripped. Eventually Drakes came and fish started exploding randomly on them. Hit some good fish and then found a few risers at bottom right upstream and opposite of Seely’s, one looked like a nice one. Mike was up and got the eat and it turned out to be a giant 23 plus inch hook jawed beast, awesome fish that ripped. Pulled out and saw a rise and made a cast and fish ate and ended up being another giant female brown that was ridiculously fat that ripped. Killer two back to back fish. We fished down, got another nice rainbow on the drift and girls were getting antsy. As we floated into Chester backwater, fish were still up good on spinners. I broke one off and then got on the phone, Mike banged a few nice ones and still had the drake on. As we were leaving begrudgingly since the girls were ready and we were hours later than estimate, still some pigs down the left edge. Pulled up on one and it wouldn’t eat the drake, switched to rusty still on 4x fish immediately ate that and ended up being a fatty killer bow.
