Henrys Fork Idaho 9-2-2013

Date / Time: 9-2-2013 morning Location: Henrys Fork River at upper ranch. The Characters: Kory, Tammy along but didn’t fish Weather: Overcast, cooler 70s Water Temp: 60s guess Water Level: 800 island park Water Clarity/Quality: Moss on drift, but less up higher, clear. Moon Phase: Between last quarter and new moon. Fishing: Morning: Last morning, went to the river and looked around at about 7:30. Perfect morning after last few of straight sun, it was pure overcast with occasional drizzle. Went to top of ranch and was looking at log jam and saw a few good fish working. Jumped in and made my way down. Ended up being several good fish up on a mix of spinners and occasional ants. Tried a few diff patterns and eventually went to the two tone parachute Richie ant that Harley introduced me to many years back. They ate it pretty good on 5x and I missed one big one and eventually hooked and landed a mid sized fish then a good 17-18 incher that ripped me pretty good and I followed down and landed. Went back up and there were several more nice fish around including a few giants. Hooked one more decent one and landed it and missed a couple others and got schooled by a few. Eventually had to pick up Tammy and it was tapering off. There were flying ants on the water, not a ton but enough and a mix of callibaetis, caddis and misc. other small spinners. Went back with Tammy, but the fish were largely done and I never got a good shot at any that would come up regularly. May have missed one other one, don’t remember. Overall pretty good morning for the
