Some fishing gravel pit area but never casted The Characters: Kory & Girls, Cara, Joe & Kids. Matt and Pam up there. Weather: First day, sunny warm, second day sunny warm 70s, last day cool and rainy and temp drop but sunny and very windy Water Temp: Likely mid 50s not checked Water Level / Tide: Ashton gauge 1600-1700 Water Clarity/Quality: Good clarity Moon Phase: Right after New Best Flies: Drake cripple size 12 or 200r, double ugly size 12 and 14, double ugly with krystal flash tail I tied. Parachute grey drake I tied. Fishing: Writing this a month and a half late so don’t remember all details. Went up with Tammy and Anna with trailer already there. Joe and Cara were meeting us the following day. Matt and Pam were staying at trout hunter. I fished on my own in the evening and did well one evening if I remember right at fun farm. Did another evening with Matt and also did well but didn’t land any pigs. Good grey drake spinner falls both days. On Saturday floated Ora to Vernon with Tammy, Anna, Cara and Gillian. Cara was hoping to fish so I nymphed her a bit since kids were in the boat crawling all over. She hooked and landed a few whiteys on the stone nymph and lost at least one other fish that seemed like a pig but didn’t stay buttoned up. Never landed a trout, but didn’t fish a lot and she has a bit of a struggle. I dropped the girls off at Vernon and floated the remaining solo. Tons of people around and green drakes starting to pop with fish working them. Ultimately had millions of grey drake spinners mid day and fish going off. I stuck several pig browns in various tailouts and cool spots and also some good bows. Landed 6-8 pigs and others and ultimately pushed through Chester since Tammy was picking me up around 5:30 or so. As I was pushing through backwater, fish going off through there too and I stuck one more good brown on the move. The bigger sparse grey hackle double ugly with a few strands of krystal flash coming off slayed them on 4x. Killer afternoon and would have loved to fish on through until dark, but family prevailed. I walked around on the gravel pit water a few times, but no bugs were going and it remained kind of chilly. Also never saw pmds up around last chance. Never did do a serious ranch walk, but went in at millionaire’s with perfect conditions with the girls and looked pretty hard for nada.
