Date / Time: Friday, February 7, 2014 Location: Lower Provo Campground The Characters: Kory K Weather: Sporadic breezy and snow showers, high 30s. Water Temp: High 30s guess Water Level: 97 cfs Water Clarity/Quality: Crystal clear Moon Phase: First quarter Best Techniques: Nymphing and dries Best Flies: Sow bug #18, brown bead #16, trailing shuck midge #22 Fishing: Got down around 1pm or so and decided to hit the hoover parking area. Jumped in right below hill and worked up through the pockety water. Got a handful in the first hole at top of pockets on brown bead. Had the brown bead, tung mayfly, sow rigged with now weight shallow but all ate the bead initially. Got to the meadow hole and there were some risers, so switched over to trailing shuck. Got several but mostly smaller fish. There were some big fish here and there, but hard to pin. Worked up to pool under railroad and got a few more smaller ones and then got a good fish right off the bank that ripped super good about 17” or so. Switched back to the nymph and worked up through and banged fish here and there on the sow and a few on the bead. Eventually worked up to gomez and never saw any more risers and ultimately ended on a nice bow in gomez. Good afternoon of fishing, it was chilly but not too bad and virtually nobody around.
