Lower Provo River 3-24-2013

Fat-Hoover-Rainbow

Date / Time: March 24th, 2013 Location: Lower Provo The Characters: Kory Weather: Mostly sunny high 30s low 40s breezy. Water Temp: High 30s guess Water Level: Low around 98 cfs Water Clarity/Quality: Clear. Moon Phase: First quarter. Fishing: Headed down for late afternoon to look for BWOs. Got there around 2 or so, as few days previous was excellent late. Parked at sign above Hoover and hiked straight down above pockets. Few bugs and very windy, much less overcast then I had hoped and windier too. Fat-Hoover-RainbowFished the shallow nymph since I already had it on, and didn’t do much walked around looking for risers and only a few. Pocketwater-BrownWent to the good hole right in the middle of the pockets and there were some good fish up but very sporadic and selective, didn’t get any. Worked down and never did see many risers or bugs. Eventually was leaving and saw some big rainbows at top of hoover, so had to fish to them. Hooked a few of those and broke a big one off after a pretty good fight. Decided to cross and walk back up through, never got much else except spotted one nice brown in a pocket and one cast hooked and landed and called it a day.
