Lower Provo, Utah: March 12, 2011

Date / Time: 3/12/2010 Location: Lower Provo River The Characters: Kory Kapaloski Weather: Partly Cloudy, light off and on rain, occasional wind. Water Temp: 40ish (guess) Water Level / Tide: High for time of year 450 cfs or so Water Clarity/Quality: Crystal Clear Moon Phase: First Quarter Fishing: Arrived around noon and fished olmstead right above the diversion since the high water had made the upper end have limited holding water and i wanted to check this section out. Fished up through and nothing really up except on the far side in unreachable spot. Got 3-4 on small purple disco black bead head dropper and worked up into rafting place. Saw a few rise and a few BWOs here and there but nothing major. Lot of fish tight to the bank, hard not to spook. Walked back down to the car and ran into Jeremy Jones. Shot the shit with him for a bit and a few more started to come up. He bailed and I went back into the flat in front of the parking area. BWOs started to increase and more fish started to come up. Ended up being a decent hatch, somewhat sporadic but enough bugs to get fish up. Hit 3 or 4 decent fish nothing bigger than 16 or so. Walked down and checked out a few more spots in the slow water and there were a bunch up in the middle in one section. Got 2 or 3 more there and another a little further down and then it tapered off and I headed upstream to check one more spot. Jumped in at the access below the pine run and went into the broad flat. Was throwing the para bwo and disco dropper and had one come up to the dry and missed it. I looked closer and noticed several fish rising through the flat but they were incredibly difficult to see in the glare. Took off the dropper and hooked 3 or 4 pretty good fish. After those were done, went up river into pines and checked it out. It had limited holding water at that level but some eddies and pockets on the far side had a few fish. Broke one off on a griffith’s gnat. Checked out upriver, but nothing happening so headed out.
