Lower Provo, Utah: March 20, 2011
Date / Time: 3/20/2011 Location: Lower Provo River The Characters: Kory Kapaloski Weather: Partly Cloudy, light off and on rain, occasional wind. Water Temp: 40ish (guess) Water Level / Tide: High for time of year 450 cfs or so Water Clarity/Quality: Crystal Clear Moon Phase: Full Fishing: Arrived around 1pm and headed in at herring hole i guess it is called (parking area below pine run which is now the last one with the new highway). Got to the water and fish were already up on BWOs. Got one right away on a parachute bwo in the eddy where you walk in. Decent fish, good fight. One guy was in flat above nymphing but shallow edge below him was vacant and risers started to go off. Got several decent fish and lost some others on para bwo own tie. Got a few to eat other stuff, they were slightly picky so ended up on 6x. Guy above was getting schooled on nymphs, he switched to dries but still nada. I saw a few rising on the far side lower left so went there and got a few more mid sized fish. Walked downriver and found a few more here and there. Walked back up and through pine run. There were some fish up through there and I got a few of them. Hatch was still going but tapering off. I made my way down river and hit the spot where I walked in one last time with a dropper and two or three still ate the dry, none on dropper. Better dries were cripple type patterns in size #20. Good day.
