Lower Provo, Utah Sunday, November 2, 2014

Date / Time: Sunday, November 2, 2014 Location: Lower Provo Campground Area The Characters: KK Weather: Rainy, cloudy. Low to mid 40s. Calm Water Temp: Mid 50s guess Water Level: 128 cfs Water Clarity/Quality: Slightly off color, typical late season greenish. Lots of moss blooming. Moon Phase: Few days after first quarter Hatches: Some BWOs Best Flies: Olive woolly bugger, no bead. Black egg sucking mohair leech Fishing: Went down mid day solo. Storm front had come through day previous and it was significantly cooler so wasn’t sure how it would be. Weather was still hanging heavy though and it was dead calm so looked perfect for streamers. Had tied some unweighted streamers since I had been down a few weeks previous and there was so much moss it was very difficult with weighted flies. Moss had died some, but it was still super thick. Immediately got a few right off the bat and they were on it hard the entire day. I switched flies around a bit and got some on the egg sucking mohair. I also tried white, but they didn’t seem as in to it. Had a few swipes, but not like the olive bugger. The olive bugger was getting crushed. Every time I threw it in any shallow area or edge fish were going ballistic over it. Got several nice browns and tons of 14-16 good quality fish. Got a couple of rainbows, one small and one big but pretty much a brown game. I had parked at the top gate and fished all the way down to the bottom of the island. Even got a pig in the deep log pool in the sidechannel despite it being a trickle. There were actually quite a few fish all through there. Fished back up and got them all the way back up. Super fun day. The light streamer was the ticket all the way.
