Lower Provo, Utah Thursday, December 15, 2016
Date / Time: Thursday, December 15, 2016 Location: Lower Provo Campground Area The Characters: KK Weather: Cloudy, moderately breezy, warm 50s Water Temp: Mid 30s guess Water Level: 107 cfs Water Clarity/Quality: Crystal clear, still some moss. Moon Phase: 3 days after full Hatches: Some BWOs, very few Best Flies: Sow bug, bigger size 16, cream midge larva Fishing: Weather was super warm for the time of year and was going to turn cold for a while soon, so I headed to river and blew everything off. It had been a while since I had gotten out with all of the projects on the new house and Tammy working very hard so I needed to clear my head. I tied up a couple of large sow bugs and went to campground. Rigged a shallow setup and tried to go to red house but a dude was in there. Got one in the satellite hole pretty quick, but there was a lot of moss there. Eventually headed up to main hole since nobody there, but then a dude showed up. Dude who was in the red house was gone, so headed there. Got several good bows in there on the sow and a couple on the midge larva. Just fished a conventional rig shallow and it was pretty good. On walk back up, spooked a ton of large fish off the edges. Some were spawners and there were several fish on redds still, but many were not so wondering if they were there feeding on stuff and would be risers soon.
