Date / Time: Thursday, January 1, 2015 Location: Lower Provo first hole below dam The Characters: KK, Tammy, Anna Weather: Sunny and frigid 13 degrees. Water Temp: Mid 30s guess Water Level: 100 cfs Water Clarity/Quality: Crystal clear, still some moss. Moon Phase: Few days before Full Moon Hatches: Some midges, very few Best Flies: Sow bug, bigger size 18 Fishing: Wanted to try and catch a fish on first day of year. Went down with Tammy and Anna and took the sled. Tammy pulled Anna around for a bit and I fished. I didn’t even wader up and just had Sorrels on. Hooked one right away and lost it and then didn’t hook any for a bit. Went down to look at area around gate, but people were all over so went back up. There had been a guy there in the deep slow stuff but he left. I fished for about 30 minutes without a fish and was about to give up with the frigid temps, but eventually hooked one and it ended up being a pretty good 16-17 inch rainbow. Good fight and landed first fish of the year. Tammy was in Truck right there so got some pics.
