Fishing: Had not fished the Middle in a long time and wanted to hit the evening caddis. Went up around 7 planning to fish until dark. Headed down from treatment plant where I had done well in the past. Few caddis around, but nothing major initially. Threw on the Royal Stimi for nostalgia, as it was a fly I had always done well on pre hatch in the past. Picked the pockets and got fish to eat it right away. Ended up sticking a bunch of fish from 12-16” at the most. Was hoping for some bigger ones, but nothing bigger than 16 and maybe not even that big. Fish were super hot though and the takes were aggressive and explosive. Had several carthweel and explode on it after a skitter. Worked my way down into the bends and caught fish all along. The bigger fish were in the calmer eddies and slower edges. Had some cool eats. Ultimately as it got dark, quite a few caddis showed and fish were chowing in a back eddy. I stuck several there and went further down to check out a spot to end looking into sun. Got one final one foul hooked there down just above one of the giant mansions down there. Enjoyable evening.
