Provo River 1-19-2013
Weather fairly cold, but clear. Warmer higher elevation with the valley inversion. Headed to the middle Provo first below Jordanelle to check it out. Temps were in low 20s when I arrived, but it was warming. Fished there under the bridge at the upper access for a bit and hooked one fish for a short period and lost it. Spotted a large brown in shallower water from the bridge, but never did hook it or anything else. Left around 12:40 pm and decided to head to the lower Provo. Parked at the gate above Hoover and headed down. Nymphed with a shallow double bead rig with a sow behind it for a bit and hooked one Rainbow, but that was it. Worked down through the braids and back up for nothing. Didn’t spot much either. Occasional random riser, but nothing much else. Pounded the top of Hoover from the other side and nothing. Had the big brown bead on with a smaller bead and a sow. Eventually rigged deeper and hooked one fish for a second but nothing else. Unusually difficult day, but nice to get out.
