Rhode Island: Bonito & Tuna 8-16-09

**Date / Time:**8-16-09 Location: Rhode Island Quonnie to Watch Hill & Block Island The Characters: Kory Kapaloski, Jeremy Cameron Weather: Partly cloudy,  mostly sunny Water Temp: Mid 60s or so Water Level / Tide: Don’t remember tides Water Clarity/Quality: Clear Moon Phase: Close to new, last quarter Fishing: Launched at Quonnie again, cruised out and headed to Weekapaug. Got there and there were some fish showing sporadically but quite a few guys on them. Watched one guy hook up in a Kayak that Jeremy knew (he lost the fish).  We bailed and headed to Watch Hill, but weren’t seeing a whole lot. There was a ton of bait, but the not too many fish around (at least visible fish). At the reef, we still weren’t seeing much so J called the Bonito bros who he had sent out to Block after our experience the previous day. He got on the phone and while chilling there, I saw a single fish break about 30 feet away. I figured it was a blue, but threw anyway. Fish took, still thought it was a blue then saw it and it was a bonito. It was pretty small, but still a bonito. After that, didn’t see much else and the bonito bros had got a small bluefin blind casting so we decided to make the run again. Got out there, looked around all over and never saw anything. Should have probably thrown the teaser, but didn’t and ended up bailing back to look for bones. Weren’t a lot around, but there were some sporadically around weekapaug but we never managed a hook up. Water was a little weedy and it was sweltering hot. We called it a day and I headed back to the city. Fun trip…
