S Fork Ogden & Causey, Utah: March 13, 2011

Date / Time:3/13/2011 Location: Causey Reservoir inlet and S. Fork Ogden The Characters: Kory Kapaloski, Tammy Stevenson Weather: Mostly sunny beautiful 50s occasional breeze Water Temp: 38-39 (guess) Water Level / Tide: Water Clarity/Quality: S Fk. Ogden slightly off color below tribs, crystal above. Causey inlet crystal. Moon Phase: Just after first quarter Fishing: Tammy and I went for a drive to check out new spots. Drove up the main ogden river in Ogden and looked at spots but it wasn’t feeling great so I bailed and headed up canyon. looked at a few spots and didn’t want to hit any of them. Drove up above Pineview and looked at the inlets then was going to drive over to little bear but realized road was dirt and it was muddy so turned around and headed to S Fork. Drove up and bunch of people, so looked at causey inlet. lake above causey at boy scout camp was loaded with risers including some pretty big fish, but it was private. Looked at the inlet and it was free of ice so headed there. Bunch of fish stacked in inlet and water was crystal. Banged a bunch of mid sized fish on tiny purple disco dropper. A few were rising and there were a few winter stones around but they all ate the dropper. Got rainbows, browns, cutties and tigers. Tried a few casts in the lake with leech and floating line for naught. Went down and checked out a few spots on the S. Fork, but it was off color lower and I wasn’t into it. Went above where it was clear and fished a few holes for nothing. Tammy messed around on the snowshoes while i did that.
