Strawberry River Below Starvation September 4, 2015
Date / Time: Friday, September 4 2015 Location: Strawberry below starvation reservoir S curves to spillway 12-4 or so The Characters: KK, Dad, Matt Olson & his dad Weather: Sunny, some clouds. Temps in low 80s. T storm at end Water Temp: Guessing low 60s Water Level: Around 300 cfs Water Clarity/Quality: Crystal Moon Phase: Day before last quarter Hatches: PMDs, some caddis Best Flies: PMD Emerger, Rusty Spinner, Split Case PMD Fishing: Went up for day with dad to fish with Matt and his dad. Got there a little after noon hoping for PMDs even though it was late in the season. Water was still up so figured there would be some around. Found a couple above the S curves when we got there and dad got one when I went back to car. It was super sporadic and eventually got going here and there. Didn’t ever find consistent pods but found a few here and there. Got a couple sight nymphing before I found risers. Caught a couple of good fish, but far and few between. T storm started rolling in and everyone was ready to leave around 4:30 but bugs were getting going even better and more risers were showing. Because of weather and Tammy and Anna waiting for me at LC and everyone ready to leave, headed out. Fun afternoon, nothing great but found some risers and got to fish with dad.
