Strawberry River Below Starvation August 29, 2017

Date / Time: Tuesday, August 29, 2017 Location: Strawberry below starvation reservoir S curves to corner 12-3pm The Characters: KK solo Weather: Sunny, some clouds. Temps in low 80s. Water Temp: Guessing low 60s Water Level: Around 270 cfs Water Clarity/Quality: Crystal Moon Phase: First quarter Hatches: PMDs, some caddis Best Flies: KK Hopper Fat Albert Style #10 Fishing: Drove up day before with Anna and spent the night at LC to get the membership stuff dialed in. Went down for a few hours to throw hoppers since Jason Curry told me it was good a week and a half or so earlier. Weather had remained hot and dry so figured it would still be good. Spotted a fish from road driving in and threw the hopper over him and he came up but refused, but that led me to believe they would eat it. There were several cars including a guide trip, but I jumped into my secret middle access and started below the S curves. Threw a few casts and was scanning the water and looked back to see my fly had disappeared. I set the hook and was hooked up to a slab. Good battle and landed the fish, it was around 20 and healthy. After that, spotted several in the shallows but they were uninterested. I put on a small dropper, but still no dice. Took the dropper back off and kept moving. Ended up getting a dozen or so through the water up to the big bend. Several super cool eats from slow motion downstream takes to jaws of death to explosions. Many fish not interested but plenty were. Super fun 3 hour session!
