Utah Green 6-30-2013

Date / Time: 6-30-2013. Location: C section float from camp to cowboy super short just fishing pmd hatch. The Characters: Kory, BK in BK boat. Jason solo. Weather: Sunny and super hot. Water Temp: High 50s guess. Water Level: 800-900 during the day. Up to about 1700 around 6pm. Water Clarity/Quality: Crystal clear. Moon Phase: Last quarter. Bugs: Sallies, caddis, pmds. Fishing: Jason and Matt fished droppers at riffle around camp and Jason got a few good fish on sally dropper. I was breaking down camp so didn’t get out until later. BK showed up to pick up his boat and we decided to do a short float to Cowboy and look for risers while tammy and rebekah toured Jarvie Ranch. There were some good fish up but super skittish and spooky. In the flat in front of camp we could never get close enough. Should probably have waded rather than do the boat. Worked down through the eddies on the right and got out. Fish were blasting occasional sallies in the riffles and some good ones up in the right cliff eddies. There was one in the pool that we anchored in that didn’t seem to care we were there, BK messed around with it and got it I think on a cream triple double. There was another good fish up in the first pool above, but I never could get a good drift and spooked it. Went to the next pool and another one or two were up so I decided to wade out and fish back in. I ultimatel got one good fat 16-17 inch rainbow that battled ridiculously and took me 5 minutes or so to land. Think I got that on a pmd cripple. Looked around and only smaller fish so headed back to boat. BK got one pig that was in shallow slow water to eat but missed it. I fished the giant cicada over some rocks on the left and took my eyes away and it was gone, set and big fish on lost that one too. Looked at the canal entrance and there was a fish up, got out on the canal diversion and several were up way back up in there some nice ones. Got several eats on the wullf and lost and missed all of them. Finished up and met the girls. I fished the riffle in front of ramp with big cicada for nothing. Walked up above ramp and a couple of giants were up but I spooked them and we headed out.
