Weber River Wanship May 2nd, 2014

Date / Time: Friday, May 2nd, 2014 4pm-6pm Location: Weber both at sheep farm and lower on creamery The Characters: Kory & Anna Weather: Sunny, High clouds, 70s, slightly breezy Water Temp: High 40s guess Water Level: Low around 70 cfs Water Clarity/Quality: Slightly off color Moon Phase: Few days after new moon Best Flies: My triple wing caddis pattern #16, but had to trim the wing back to get them to eat it Fishing: Headed up with Anna to check out whether Mother’s Day caddis were out since it had been warm and sunny for several days. Sure enough, bugs were there at the sheep ranch area but no fish up and not a ton so decided to head further down. Hit the bridge at Creamery Lane and there were fish up under bridge and a ton more bugs. Anna was sleeping, so just fished right under bridge and brought the car seat down. They were selective, but I ultimately stuck a few on the trimmed down version of my caddis. I may have had a few eat other bugs, but don’t recall. Anna woke up but hung in there for a bit so I stuck a few more. Eventually got her out and walked up river, but only saw a couple of fish so drove down a bit. Hit the second walkover where river goes against hill and walked over with Anna in Bjorn. There were fish up along the willows below the big hole and I stuck a few nice ones and landed one around 17 or so and lost and missed a few others, maybe got another small one or two. Anna was about done, so headed out after landing the one nice fish. Caddis were getting super thick so imagine it went off later. We left around 6 or so.
