Yellowstone River Wyoming & Henrys Fork Idaho 9-1-2013
Date / Time: 9-1-2013 afternoon Location: Yellowstone River in park and Henrys Fork River at upper ranch. The Characters: Kory, Tammy along but didn’t fish Weather: Sunny and warm 80s, cool in am 40s Water Temp: 60s guess Water Level: Around 900 Yellowstone River and 800 island park Water Clarity/Quality: Crystal on Yellowstone, guessing a bit low. Moss on drift on Henrys but clear. Moon Phase: Between last quarter and new moon. Fishing: Morning: Drove around and looked at last chance, river at inlet of Island Park Reservoir but didn’t fish either. Eventually Tammy was up and we decided to go to Yellowstone. By the time we got over there, ate and hit the gat it was already noon and packed since it was labor day weekend. Eventually ended up at the Yellowstone River around 2:30pm. Mike Langford had told me to go to Sulphur Cauldron and I did but didn’t know where to go. Drove upriver and everything was closed for 6 miles due to fire. Eventually drove down river, looked around and didn’t see anything so didn’t end up fishing. I knew the population was low and you needed to spot a fish and there were no bugs and the light was low and Tammy pregnant so I decided best course of action was to just hang out. Drove out and looked at the Gibbon and thought about it but didn’t and then talked to Mike later who said it had some big fish, oh well scouting trip. Evening: Fished the evening at top of ranch again, this time mostly above log jam. Basically no fish rising whatsoever, looked around and saw one here and there rise once but it was largely a bust.
